Terms and Conditions

Welcome to SyntaxQuest. By accessing or using our services, applications, and websites, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). Please read them carefully before proceeding.

1. ACCEPTANCE & ELIGIBILITY

By accessing SyntaxQuest, an AI-powered Game Development assistant, you confirm that:

• You are at least 13 years old (or 16 years old if you are in the European Economic Area, per GDPR);
• You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement;
• If you are acting on behalf of a company or organisation, you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE

SyntaxQuest provides Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) referencing official documentation from game engines (Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot) via licensed AI models.

• Free Plan ($0/month): Up to 50 messages per day; powered by Gemma 4; access to LTS engine versions only.
• Power Mode (R$39/month, ~$7/month): Up to 500 messages per day; powered by Claude Sonnet 4.6; access to all engine versions (LTS, Beta, Alpha); file and code uploads; GitHub repository analysis; multi-engine global search.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with reasonable notice.

3. ACCOUNTS & SECURITY

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (email/password, GitHub, Discord, or Google OAuth);
• All activity that occurs under your account;
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised access via the in-app Feedback system.

You may not share accounts or credentials with third parties.

4. SUBSCRIPTION & PAYMENTS

• Power Mode subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe;
• You may cancel at any time through the Profile page; your Power Mode access will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle;
• Refunds: We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months. However, if you experience a service outage exceeding 48 continuous hours attributable solely to our infrastructure failure, you may request a proportional credit by contacting us within 30 days of the incident;
• Stripe processes all payment transactions and is subject to its own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

5. USER CONTENT & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

• You retain full ownership of any code, scripts, repositories, or files you upload for context during a session;
• By submitting content, you grant SyntaxQuest a limited, temporary, non-exclusive licence solely to process that content to generate AI responses during your session. We do not store uploaded files or repositories beyond the active API call;
• You must not upload content that violates third-party intellectual property rights, contains malware, or is otherwise unlawful;
• AI-generated responses are provided for informational and development assistance purposes. Ownership of AI-generated code suggestions remains with you, subject to any terms of the underlying AI model providers (Anthropic, Google).

6. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY & AI DISCLAIMERS

AI Limitations: SyntaxQuest uses Large Language Models (LLMs) that may generate code suggestions containing errors, deprecated APIs, security vulnerabilities, or factual inaccuracies ("hallucinations").

• No Warranty: The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement;
• Human Review Required: All AI-generated code must be reviewed and tested by a qualified human developer before being deployed in any production environment;
• Liability Cap: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SyntaxQuest's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim, or $20, whichever is greater;
• We are not liable for data loss, project corruption, financial losses, security breaches, or game crashes resulting from the use of unreviewed AI-generated code.

7. DATA PRIVACY & COMPLIANCE (GDPR / LGPD)

7.1 Data Controller

7.2 What We Collect & Why

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data to train AI models.

7.3 Sub-processors & Third Parties

To deliver our service, we share data with the following processors:

All processors are subject to appropriate Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and standard contractual clauses where required.

7.4 Cookies & Local Storage

SyntaxQuest does not use tracking cookies. We use secure cookies for authenticated session state and CSRF protection. We use browser localStorage only for local product preferences and convenience data, such as:

• Theme, language, notification, and onboarding preferences
• Active engine/version selection
• Recent session and repository context stored on this device for your convenience

You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.

7.5 Your Rights

Under GDPR (EU) and LGPD (Brazil), you have the right to:

"Delete Account Permanently" immediately and permanently removes all your personal data, messages, and history from our database. This action is irreversible.

7.6 Data Retention

• Chat history: retained until you delete it or your account;
• Payment records: retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations;
• Anonymised usage aggregates: may be retained indefinitely.

8. PROHIBITED USE

You may not use SyntaxQuest to:

• Attempt to reverse-engineer, circumvent, or exploit rate limits or API access controls;
• Upload malicious files, malware, or content designed to harm our infrastructure;
• Attempt prompt injection attacks or manipulation of AI model behaviour outside your authorised session;
• Use the service to generate content that violates applicable laws or third-party rights;
• Share accounts or resell access to the service.

9. TERMINATION

• You may delete your account at any time via the Profile page;
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts engaged in prohibited use (Section 8) without prior notice or refund;
• Upon termination, your personal data will be deleted in accordance with Section 7.5, except where retention is legally required.

10. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

The version history is identified by the Version and Last Updated date at the top of this document.

11. GOVERNING LAW & DISPUTE RESOLUTION

These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. For users in the European Union, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence also apply.

Any dispute arising from these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes may be submitted to the competent courts of Brazil or your jurisdiction of residence.

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and SyntaxQuest regarding your use of the service.
